1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Maknoon Academy (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our Service.

2. Description of Service

Maknoon Academy teaches the Quran and Arabic online, with teachers chosen and overseen by the academy. Our services include:

  • A free first lesson
  • Monthly courses for one learner
  • Family courses, where siblings learn together

3. User Accounts

Registration

To use our services, you must create an account with accurate and complete information. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

Children learn through an account held by their parent or guardian, who books and pays for their lessons and is responsible for their use of the Service.

Account Types

  • Student Accounts: For learners seeking Arabic or Quran education
  • Teacher Accounts: Teachers apply through the “Apply to teach” page, or are added by the academy. A teacher account only becomes active once the academy approves it.

4. Courses, Booking and Payment

Courses and payment

  • A course is four weeks of lessons at the number of lessons a week it states
  • Courses are priced in Egyptian pounds (EGP). Amounts shown in other currencies are a guide only
  • You pay by bank transfer, quoting the reference we give you. Your course starts once we have confirmed the payment
  • Nothing is ever taken from a card automatically

Booking lessons

  • Lessons must be booked at least 24 hours in advance
  • The academy assigns your teacher
  • There are no lessons on Fridays
  • Lesson times are shown in your own timezone

5. Cancelling and Rescheduling

  • Cancel or move a course lesson more than 30 minutes before it starts: the lesson credit is returned
  • Cancel within 30 minutes of the start, or do not attend: the lesson credit is used
  • A lesson may be moved twice. After that, contact us
  • Free first lesson: cancel at any time before the lesson and your free lesson remains available
  • If your teacher cannot take a lesson, the academy gives it to another teacher at the same time. If no teacher is available, the lesson credit is returned and we will help you rebook
  • If a teacher does not attend, tell us and the lesson credit is returned to you

6. Complaints

If something has gone wrong, we want to hear about it:

  • Message us on WhatsApp or through the contact form. If it is about a lesson, include its booking reference
  • If a lesson did not happen as booked, you can also report it from your dashboard. The academy reviews every report and returns the lesson credit where the lesson did not take place

7. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users or teachers
  • Share inappropriate content during lessons
  • Attempt to circumvent the platform to arrange payments directly with teachers
  • Create multiple accounts or impersonate others
  • Interfere with the proper functioning of the Service

8. Teacher Responsibilities

Teachers using our platform agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about their qualifications
  • Conduct lessons professionally and punctually
  • Maintain appropriate conduct with all students
  • Confirm new lessons promptly, and tell the academy straight away if they cannot take one
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations

9. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Maknoon Academy and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

10. Limitation of Liability

We are not responsible for:

  • Technical issues beyond our reasonable control, such as your internet connection or a video service outage
  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe:

  • Violates these Terms of Service
  • Is harmful to other users or teachers
  • Is harmful to us or third parties

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by posting the new Terms on this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, where Maknoon Academy is based.
